What is Humanin?

Humanin is a 24-amino acid mitochondrial-derived peptide with potent cytoprotective and neuroprotective properties. It protects cells against Alzheimer-related toxicity, oxidative stress, and apoptosis. Discovered in 2001, it is one of the first identified mitochondrial-derived peptides (MDPs).

Key Benefits & Mechanisms

Cytoprotection against cellular stress

Neuroprotective against amyloid-beta

Anti-apoptotic signaling

Reduces oxidative stress

Insulin sensitizing effects

Cardioprotective properties

Longevity-associated biomarker

Research Summary

Humanin has strong pre-clinical evidence for cytoprotection and neuroprotection. Studies show protection against Alzheimer disease-related cellular toxicity. Being investigated as a biomarker for aging and metabolic health. Part of the growing mitochondrial-derived peptide field.
