What is Ang2?
A 19-mer BBB-targeting peptide used to ferry drugs and nanoparticles into the brain through LRP1-mediated transcytosis. It is a classic targeting ligand in peptide-drug conjugates and brain-directed nanomedicine.
Key Benefits & Mechanisms
BBB transcytosis
brain tumor targeting
improved CNS exposure
Research Summary
Angiopep-2 has been repeatedly used in preclinical formulations to improve brain accumulation of chemotherapeutics, imaging agents, and liposomal cargo. Conjugation usually increases CNS delivery versus non-targeted controls while preserving ligand specificity for LRP1-rich tissues.
Related Peptides
TAT
HIV-1 TAT protein transduction domain
A classic cationic cell-penetrating peptide derived from the HIV-1 transactivator of transcription protein. It is widely used to ferry proteins, peptides, and nucleic acids into cells in preclinical drug-delivery studies.
Drug DeliveryPenetratin
Antennapedia-derived penetratin
Penetratin is a 16-residue CPP derived from the Drosophila Antennapedia homeodomain. It is a foundational delivery peptide for intracellular transport of biomolecules and imaging agents.
Drug DeliveryTransportan
Transportan chimeric peptide
Transportan is a chimeric peptide created from galanin and mastoparan sequences and is known for strong membrane interaction. It has been used as a carrier for proteins, nucleic acids, and lipophilic drug conjugates.
Drug DeliveryR9
Nona-arginine
R9 is a homopolyarginine CPP made of nine D- or L-arginine residues, most commonly used in the L-form for delivery research. It is a standard benchmark peptide for intracellular uptake of cargo across many cell types.
