What is Myostatin Propeptide?

Myostatin Propeptide is the natural inhibitor of myostatin (GDF-8), the protein that limits muscle growth. By binding to and neutralizing myostatin, the propeptide removes the biological brake on muscle development. Animals with myostatin mutations display extreme muscularity, validating this target.

Key Benefits & Mechanisms

Natural myostatin inhibition

Promotes muscle hypertrophy

Removes muscle growth limitation

Increases lean body mass

May improve muscle quality

Does not require exercise (in animal models)

Complementary to follistatin

Research Summary

Myostatin inhibition has strong proof-of-concept from genetic studies (myostatin knockout animals and rare human cases). Direct propeptide administration data is limited. Multiple pharmaceutical approaches to myostatin inhibition are in clinical development for muscular dystrophies.
