What is Endothelin-1?
A potent 21-amino-acid vasoactive peptide that also acts as a paracrine melanogenic signal in skin. It is a major keratinocyte-derived mediator of melanocyte proliferation, dendricity, and melanin synthesis.
Key Benefits & Mechanisms
Stimulates melanocyte activity
Supports melanosome transfer studies
Useful in UV-induced pigmentation research
Links vascular and pigment signaling
Research Summary
Endothelin-1 is one of the best-studied non-melanocortin regulators of pigmentation in human skin. It is strongly associated with UV-induced tanning responses and pigment disorder biology.
